Why We Exist
The FieldUnit is an independent R&D organization focused on advancing privacy and security for those working in high-risk environments. We support journalists, human rights defenders, NGOs, and public sector organizations by developing tools, systems, and knowledge to help them operate safely and effectively.
Our team brings together a diverse mix of expertise, spanning cybersecurity, software engineering, policy, and field experience. This interdisciplinary approach allows us to tackle complex challenges and build practical, open-source solutions that serve both our target communities and the broader cybersecurity ecosystem.
At its core, The FieldUnit is driven by a commitment to apply research and technology where it has real-world impact. We aim to strengthen the resilience of those defending human rights and open societies, and to foster greater collaboration across sectors working toward that goal.
